Springtime is Here

It is beautiful this time of year! Time to get out and spruce up those beds! Follow these four simple P's to ready your gardens for summer-long beauty and enjoyment.

PRUNE
Get those pruners and lawn mower blades sharp! Prune anything dead or diseased out of your plants. Most plants that have already bloomed in early spring can be pruned back. Dispose properly of any diseased part of you plants, so as not to infect the rest of your garden. If you have a compost bin, place non-diseased cuttings and debris there. Be careful, there are some plants that bloom on old wood. Be sure to research your particular plant for pruning.

PREPARE
Prepare your beds. Remove unwanted weeds and debris. Add organic matter, fertilizer and soil amendments. Always read the instructions carefully to ensure proper applications.

PLANT
Plant a variety of your favorite trees, shrubs, colorful annuals and perennials.

POLISH
Polish off your beds with fresh mulch. Be sure to cut those edges in for a clean, manicured look.
